The game was well-known in the early days of the American republic. Cricket was once a popular sport in the U.S., but after the Civil War baseball overtook cricket as Americans’ summer sport of choice. Today cricket is regaining a U.S. following. A U.S. promoter envisions cricket being played in schools across the country.
