They came for factory jobs. Today, many are skilled workers, small business owners or entrepreneurs. Recent generations of New Jersey’s Peruvians are solidly positioned in the middle class. They have high rates of English proficiency and high rates of naturalization, and are better educated than their parents’ generation.
