Americans with Disabilities Act

Americans with Disabilities Act

The law prohibits discrimination by businesses and governments against people who have disabilities. New buildings for public accommodations and places of commerce must be made accessible for disabled people. The requirement to modify existing buildings depends on whether the change can be “easily accomplished without much difficulty or expense.” A big business would be expected to make certain structural fixes, while a small business might be exempt.
